The Klapper family from North Texas has proudly encouraged the next generation to follow in their hunting footsteps.

Mom and Dad’s Facebook pages frequently feature images of their young children hunting with them for deer and turkey. This season 7-year-old Lilly took her first deer and the internet went wild.

With more than 2.3 million views in less than 3 days, the public response to his daughter’s video has left Cody stunned.

The avid hunter and excellent father was concerned that some people may not appreciate their traditions and wrote

Wanuskewin Heritage Park welcomes 1st baby bison since 1876

For the first time in roughly 150 years, a bison has been born on the land at Wanuskewin Heritage Park.

The female bison was born Wednesday, the first from the herd Wanuskewin welcomed in December, which has genetic links to the Yellowstone herd.

According to Wanuskewin officials, the occasion marks the first bison born on their ancestral land since before the 1876 signing of Treaty Six and the local extinction of the species.

Wanuskewin CEO Darlene Brander said the birth is “a historic moment in Wanuskewin’s timeline.”

She said Indigenous elders had been trying to bring bison back to the park for 40 years and “there was a lot of joy going on” when they learned of the birth.

“We have been waiting for this day at Wanuskewin for a very long time,” she said.

“When you take in the COVID-19 pandemic and all the implications of it and how it impacted our lives, to hear about this ray of hope through the baby bison being born at the park, it was incredibly significant.”

Felix Thomas, the Wanuskewin board chair and co-chair of the Thundering Ahead capital campaign, said every birth “is part of the circle of life and signals progress.”

More baby bison are expected in the spring, though Brander would not say how many. One of the things elders have taught her is to not count her eggs before they hatch, she said.

Wanuskewain welcomed 11 Plains bison to the park in December. Six calves came from Grasslands National Park in southern Saskatchewan and five animals — a bull and four pregnant cows — came from a ranch in South Dakota.

Because of restrictions in place around COVID-19, Wanuskewin is closed to the public. Brander said even if the park were open, people would be asked to give the bison space.

Anoas Gave Birth To Their Second Calf At Thoiry ZooSafari

Thoiry ZooSafari started breeding a pair of Anoas which arrived at their facility back in 2016. The pair has proven to be a good match as they just welcome their second baby. Anoas giving birth is a rare occasion.

Thoiry ZooSafari believes only 2 Anoas exist currently in the wild, which is a dangerously low number.

Even in zoos, the numbers are extremely low. The facility reports that there are less than 50 animals of this species left in all European Zoos.

In the European continent, there have only been 2 births in the last year.

Anoas are also known as dwarf buffalos as they are among the smallest cattle that exist.

Their heights hardly reach a meter when fully mature. Whereas, the calfs at birth are not more than 40cm tall.

Additionally, the species has been facing habitat loss and are subjected to hunting. Hence, their numbers have seen a drastic hit in the recent years.

The International Union for Nature Conservation (IUNC) has enlisted the species on the Red List since 2008 making them dangerously endangered.

Anoas have either dark brown or black coats, which are extremely woolly.

The distinctive feature of males is that they are darker in color than females. They do not have many spots other than light patches right above their hooves.

Another notice-worthy trait is their relatively short tail. Both the males and females have horns. Their horn are rear-facing and can grow between 15 to 20 cm.

They are endemic to the Indonesian islands of Sulawesi and Butung. Anoas are rainforest animals.

Their habitats must include dense vegetation and permanent sources of water.

Dwarf buffalos are solitary animals. The best they will do is move in pairs. Moving forward, the life span for them is around 20 to 25 years.

Humans threaten their ability to survive. Thus, they do not thrive in densely populated areas.

The foal was born in the darkness of the night. It belongs to mother Tsetseg. Both of them are doing amazingly well.

Currently, the gender of this Przewalski horse foal is unknown.

The zoo staff and administration are so happy about this foal’s arrival. This is not less than a miracle for them as this pregnancy was of high significance.

Most importantly, the entire staff was on high alert during her gestation period.

Indeed, they made sure to provide her with the best. She is one lucky lady who received all the attention to herself. She would have felt loved and cared for.

This species of horses are among the most endangered species on the IUCN red list. In the wild, these horses are extinct.

As a matter of fact, only a few of the zoos took the initiative in trying to preserve this kind.

They have a pale belly and beige to reddish-brown coat which is short during summers but longer during winters.

As a matter of fact, this is a special species for the entire world. Everyone is trying to help this race survive.

Last but not the least, we hope this baby turns into a beautiful adult!

Scientists redesign shotgun slug for incredible accuracy and stability

TAOFLEDERMAUS is more than willing to take anything you send him and shoot it from a shotgun.

In his latest episode of “You Make It, We Shoot It” Jeff looks at some unique pawn-shaped slugs designed by a group of scientists in Finland.

These slugs were fabricated by a 3D printer to create a unique organic shape that Jeff has never seen before.

The first slug performed incredibly well with “pin-point” accuracy, but the split-fin design left much to be desired.

Jeff had some trouble finding the right amount of powder while loading these plastic slugs and destroyed the stabilizing tail of the final lead-ballast design.

We’d love to see how these plastic slugs perform after being re-cast as solid lead projectiles!

A group of Finnish scientists decided to throw their hats in the ring and create their own shotgun slug designs for us to test out.

The oddly organic shape they chose hasn’t really been tested before. Will they perform well?

Wow, these slugs were surprising to say the least, especially giving that these are little more then prototypes.

With a little more testing an maybe a refinement of the type of plastic used I could see these rounds going places.

I’m trying to imagine their next meeting with their dean… “yes sir, we increased our social media impact by a factor of ten this week.

No sir our technique is not translatable to the medical department. No sir. Can’t explain it.”

The unforgettable sound of a full-auto-only BAR in 30.06

Hickok45 managed to get his hands on an original piece of history, a full-auto-only BAR in 30.06 with variable rate of fire.

Made around 1919, this BAR is stamped as a ‘Browning Machine Rifle’ and only fires full auto.

Designed for WWI style fighting, this weapon was built for walk-and-fire trench warfare or stationary fire from a bi-pod.

This model saw extensive use throughout WWII and Korea.

The weapon is this video has seen combat, but it has been upgraded over the years. This old workhorse is big, heavy, and reliable.

At the time it was a revolutionary war machine that could easily send a barrage of 30.06 with minimal recoil.

Shooting and discussing the BAR, designed by John Browning. Yes, it’s a little redundant to call it a “Browning BAR,” but it just seems to make it more clear what it is, especially to those folks less familiar with it.

BAR = Browning Automatic Rifle. Also, These three or four video we were able to do this day in Texas were a challenge.

Normally, I like to have more time to prepare for a firearm I have limited experience with, but we did not want to miss the opportunity to enjoy and share all these firearms with you on this afternoon when we had the chance.

Hopefully, you can tell the difference when we “review” a firearm at our shooting table and have all the time we need or want.
